Representative Centers of the republics abroad are working despite the Ukrainian government trying to stop their activities in every way. In particular, Zelensky decided to pay a visit to Italy, asking the government of this country to close down the DPR and LPR representative offices, Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova commented on this ambiguous situation in an interview with a correspondent on the DPR Official Website.
“That was a direct interference with internal affairs of a foreign country. All Representative Centers of the Donetsk People’s Republic operate in accordance with the legislation of the country where they are registered. There are three Representative Centers in Italy already, they have been operating for a long time.
Our representatives never violated Italian laws and work in line with the legal field of the Republic of Italy. Therefore, it turns out that Zelensky demands that Italian legislation be violated, which is an attempt to force on other states the rules by which Ukraine now lives,” the DPR Foreign Minister stated.
Natalya Nikonorova expressed the hope that Italy, as a rule-of-law state and a country of the European Union, where democratic values are strong, would not go for unjustifiable steps toward the Representative Centers of the Republics.
“Moreover, there is a court of law to protect rights. We have already won several lawsuits, despite the pressure Ukraine exerts through diplomatic channels. I am now talking about France, where they demanded that the Representative Centers be shut down. However, like any rule-of-law democratic state, this country has legal procedures, so we won such a suit in France, Ukraine’s demand was denied.
Now we see the same presidential claims to Italian authorities. We will see how the judicial system works in Italy and how strong its justice is,” Natalya Nikonorova said.
