About a hundred Yunarmiya members from Makeyevka swore the oath of allegiance to the Homeland on Defender of the Fatherland Day, February 23, in the Military History Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Donetsk. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin congratulated the members on swearing the oath of allegiance.
“Today we are celebrating a national holiday, Defender of the Fatherland Day! It is very significant that on this very day you are swearing the oath of allegiance to the Homeland and the people of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Loving the Motherland, faithfully serving the Homeland means contributing to the development of our state in every possible way. Each of you should be the best in any cause, education, sport, social life. Aspire to victories and achievements. I wish you success on this path!” says the welcome address that Colonel Eduard Basurin read out today.
Education and Science Minister Mikhail Kushakov noted that today’s Yumarmiya members are taking up the torch from the previous generations of defenders of the Homeland.
DPR Minister of Youth, Sport and Tourism Alexander Gromakov emphasized that it is very honorable for the young people to swear the oath on Defender of the Fatherland Day.
“I think that such an event will be a very important date for the young men in their lives,” he said.
According to chief of Yunarmiya’s Central HQ Viktor Pudak, before sweating the oath of allegiance, the future Yunarmiya members get ready for this event during three month by actively participating in the work of the public organization on the spot. This Defender of the Fatherland Day marked the fifth mass oath taking of Yunarmiya members in the Military History Museum of the Great Patriotic War, which has become one of the traditional places where the young men swear allegiance to the people of the Republic.
Mayor of Makeyevka Sergey Goloschapov said that this event was a good example to all young people in educating patriotism and love for the Homeland. He noted that the city administration provides support and assistance to Yunarmiya members of Makeyevka.
“We see joy in the eyes of the kids when they participate in various city events,” he said.
DPR residents aged 8 to 35 can join the Young Guard—Yunarmiya Military-Patriotic Movement on a voluntary basis according to the application they need to submit to a local HQ and after they take the oath of a Yunarmiya member. Legal entities can also be members of this public organization.
