Information Minister Igor Antipov spoke about the activities of the DPR Information Ministry over the past year. According to the correspondent of the Official Website of the Donetsk People’s Republic, he delivered a report today, on March 18, as part of a scheduled government hour in the DPR People’s Council.
“In accordance with the Mass Media Registration Procedure, 184 mass media outlets are operating in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic today.
Registration was carried out in accordance with the Interim Order, and there were issued 342 certificates granting the status of a DPR Information Distributor, including 47 certificates in 2019.
As part of the control over the outdoor advertising sector, in 2019 there were issued 3,112 decisions on the advertising products’ content coordination.
In 2019, the DPR issued 1,690 accreditations to journalists from 18 countries, including 641 representatives of 77 foreign media outlets, and 1,049 accreditations — to journalists from 42 media outlets of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” he said.
Igor Antipov also mentioned nine TV channels operating in the Republic, including five republican and four regional channels, six radio stations, 47 printed media, 20 of which are state-owned, and five official websites.
In his report, the Information Minister pointed to the need for professional development of the republican media specialists. In 2019, in cooperation with the DPR Ministry of Education and Science, the concept of the Higher School of Journalism was developed, and further education and professional retraining courses for media workers were launched.
In summing up, Igor Antipov noted that in 2020 the Ministry’s activities will be most focused on the social factor. Meeting the information needs of citizens, securing feedback from the population and coverage of socially significant issues and problems will be the priorities in the work of all republican media outlets.
