Starting March 21st 00:00, civilian traffic across border crossing points and customs checkpoints of the Donetsk People’s Republic on the border with Ukraine has been suspended, the press service of the DPR Head’s Administration informs.
“These are necessary measures, given the declared pandemic and the threat of importation and spread of the coronavirus infection,” the Administration stated.
Referring to the official statement of Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin regarding the closure of the border, the press service highlighted the need for such forced measures: “As Denis Pushilin emphasized earlier, we cannot put the health of the residents of the Republic at risk. We urge everyone to be vigilant and follow recommendations of the DPR Ministry of Health.”
In turn, the Republic’s security bodies have been instructed to monitor the implementation of this restrictive measure.
We would like to add that no cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the DPR as of now.
