A series of questions activists of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement asked Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin were related to food security, provision with medications, domestic production etc. The questions were asked during the Head of State’s communication with the activists via videoconferencing, a correspondent of the DPR Official Website reported on April 9.
“We hold meetings regularly, including those related to food security. Therefore, we can say, based on the report from the Minister of Industry and Trade, that we have enough reserves to feel safe today. Moreover, the range of necessary products that our importers and distribution companies ship to chain stores and outlets is constantly monitored. In addition, a certain plan has been drawn up and is being implemented. It involves forming and maintaining a two-month stock at all major wholesale warehouses in the Republic. Therefore, we can feel safe in terms of food provision, despite the tightened border crossing process.
As for medications, that is a separate issue. Given certain trends related to the lack of medications in general, there are certain setbacks. But, they are not critical. All necessary steps are being taken now to ensure that pharmacies are fully stocked with all necessary medicines, as well as related products.
As for the domestic production, specialized agencies are working to increase the number of enterprises producing masks (we have eight as of today). But then again, we bump up against the availability of raw materials. Here we are also working to ensure that this raw material comes in full. Moreover, we are already talking about producing gauze ourselves. Now we are analyzing both the suppliers of raw materials and the modernization of production facilities that we have.
As for disinfectants, we have two enterprises operating here. They are able to suffice for the entire Republic, provided that we have the raw material.
The work is ongoing, and I do not see certain critical moments here, which has a positive impact on today’s progress and prospects in this situation,” Denis Pushilin said.
