As of April 9, seven laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection have been registered in the Donetsk People’s Republic, DPR Minister of Health Olga Dolgoshapko informed at the briefing in Donetsk.

“Yesterday, on April 8, a 35-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19. He returned from the Russian Federation on April 4 across the Uspenka checkpoint and was self-isolating. On Monday of April 6, he felt the symptoms of a viral infection and sought medical attention, after which he was hospitalized, his condition is satisfactory. Relatives of the infected person and those who had contacts with him have been hospitalized, the results of their tests will be announced later.

According to the Republic Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine, 21 people have been put under observation in the past 24 hours, of whom 18 are hospitalized and three self-isolating at home.

A total of 15,287 people are under observation. Of these, 198 are hospitalized, 15,089 self-isolating at home (including 14,197 citizens who filled in an Informed Voluntary Consent to Undergo In-Home Self-Isolation Period after they crossed the DPR border). 47 people have been discharged, fully recovered and tested negative for COVID-19 twice,” the Health Minister said.

Olga Dolgoshapko urged the citizens of the Republic to keep rules of personal hygiene, self-isolation at home and avoid mass gatherings, since the coronavirus infection is airborne. Also, you should pay attention to your relatives aged 65 and older, provide them with necessary foodstuffs, medications and personal supplies so they can stay home.

We remind that the Health Ministry’s hotline is operating in the Republic, you can reach it by calling a short number 277 via the Phoenix provider or by landline phone (062) 303-27-72. The hotline received 716 calls in the past 24 hours.

Should the first signs of any acute viral respiratory illness occur, such as fever, cough, rhinitis, and, above all, shortness of breath, you must immediately request a doctor home visit. Depending on the symptoms, the doctor will decide whether to allow the patient to be treated at home or to admit him/her to a hospital. Remember, self-medication is dangerous for your health.
