Today, on April 16, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin held a working meeting with the mayors of cities, towns and districts of the Republic. They were discussing issues related to the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Republic, measures taken to prevent the coronavirus infection from spreading and protect the health of the citizens, as well as to facilitate the economy. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, the event was held via videoconference.
Olga Korol, the chief of the Interdepartmental Operational Headquarters for Prevention of Import and Spread of the New Coronavirus Infection and chief of the Control Directorate of the DPR Head’s Administration, reported on the epidemiological situation in the Republic.
“As of today, 26 cases of COVID-19 have been registered and confirmed in the Donetsk People’s Republic. There have not been any lethal outcomes. Two people, the first ones infected, have already been discharged fully recovered. There are 8,657 people self-isolating, mainly citizens who came from far-abroad and neighboring countries. 239 people are hospitalized and under observation, all in satisfactory condition.
The main task of the Interdepartmental Operational Headquarters is to organize interdepartmental cooperation for taking on-the-spot decisions and measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus infection. All necessary measures, including proactive ones, are being taken in the Republic to eliminate the danger to the lives and health of the citizens and prevent the sanitary and epidemiological situation from escalating,” she said.
The chief of the Interdepartmental Operational HQ spoke in more detail about measures taken to ensure the food security, ramp up production of personal protective gear and antiseptics, decontamination of vehicles, public awareness efforts, etc.
During the meeting they also listened to reports on the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Makeyevka and the urban-type village of Novyi Svet in the Starobeshevsky district
“Having discussed all trouble spots, I consider it necessary to draw up a certain program. In this regard, I instruct the mayors of cities, towns and districts of the Donetsk People’s Republic to provide their proposals on sealing off certain territories, including measures for limiting access of people and vehicles to these territories by April 21, 2020.
I very much hope that we will not have to use this groundwork. But, nevertheless, we must be ready for any scenario,” Denis Pushilin summed up.
