On April 27, the Minister for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, General Lieutenant of Civil Defense Alexey Kostrubitsky issued a statement regarding the conduct of comprehensive exercises of governing bodies and forces in counteracting the coronavirus infection in the Republic, the Ministry’s press service reports.

“At the instruction of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic in connection with the coronavirus proliferation, governing bodies and forces of the DPR Unified State System for Emergency Management will be conducting comprehensive exercises between April 22 and May 7, 2020, for the purpose of honing interdepartmental cooperation on the protection of the population and facilities under real-life conditions of the sanitary-epidemiological situation.

These comprehensive exercises are conducted in accordance with the plan of action for preventing the coronavirus proliferation in the Republic jointly with our colleagues from the Lugansk People’s Republic. Executive authorities and local administrations of cities, towns and districts of the Donetsk People’s Republic are taking part in them.

The drills are being conducted to address the issues of cooperation between ministries, agencies and local administrations in the event of a marked aggravation of the epidemiological situation in the Republic and introduction of emergency response measures, preparation of necessary facilities and resources, and other issues related to emergence of crisis situations and response to them during the coronavirus proliferation.

A medical camp with a capacity of 100 beds has been also deployed as part of the planned drills,” Alexey Kostrubitsky informed.
