The situation at the line of contact remains tense after a short period of reduced firing. Since May 20, 2020, the armed forces of Ukraine have fired a total of over 300 artillery and mortar shells on the territory of the Republic, having damaged 42 civil infrastructure facilities and injured three people. Over the weekend, the intensity of attacks on our localities has even increased.
In light of the above, we have to state that Kiev continues to bet on the unfolding of the force scenario with the persistence worthy of a better cause.
The cynicism, with which the Ukrainian side carries out media coverage of the events of recent weeks by publishing videos confirming ceasefire violations by Ukraine, is horrifying.
We are currently finishing the preparations for the military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. I have no doubt that this event, which has a special meaning not only for every patriot of the Republic, but also for all residents of the post-Soviet territory, a major impediment to warmongers in Ukraine who want to rewrite the history and misrepresent the outcome of the Great Patriotic War.
In this regard, I would like to warn all military and political leaders of Ukraine against making reckless decisions in the military sphere, the consequences of which will be entirely on their conscience.
I urge President Zelensky to take all necessary measures. You are able to control the situation at the line of contact, which is confirmed by some reduction in the number of attacks on our territory (or their absence, as in the LPR) in certain periods you consider fit.
I also think it is worth reminding that the change in the alert status of People’s Militia units due to the preparations for the parade is not an obstacle for them to perform in a prompt manner their tasks of detecting and negating firing-points of the enemy, who attacks the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic every day.
Drawing the attention of the guarantors for the Minsk agreements to the provocative nature of the actions of Ukraine, I call on them to immediately intervene in the reconciliation process to make Ukraine comply with the terms of the indefinite truce.
Denis Pushilin
Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic
