The political group did not achieve substantive results during the recent round of talks, but there was a positive precedent.
“A representative of Ukraine at today’s meeting admitted at last that an alteration necessary to unlock the law on the special status of Donbass, as well as all regulatory legal acts arising from the Complex of Measures, must be adopted and made public before the extraordinary local elections.
We welcome the fact that the Ukrainian side realizes the necessity and priority of those actions, which confirms that the harmonization of modalities of the local elections is the final stage on the political track,” Natalya Nikonorova noted.
The DPR envoy stressed once again that in this regard there is still a great deal of joint work ahead with representatives of the Republics at the Minsk venue to agree on all legal aspects of the special status of Donbass and, most importantly, amendments to the Constitution for its enshrinement.
“Despite the fact that the representative of Kiev expressed an unambiguously sound idea today, I want to emphasize that it is obviously not enough, we are still waiting for an official written position on those issues the Ukrainian side promised,” Natalya Nikonorova stated.
