The spiritual help provided to Donbass has become the central conversation theme of the Saturday’s “In full swing” radio broadcast today, on November 2. The conversation was attended by the Head of the Moscow-Donbass International Volunteer Group, Elena Romanenko, and the member of the public headquarters for frontline areas, Elena Radomskaya.

“As we enter the sixth year of the war, we have introduced a new project we called the Project for Spiritual Assistance to Donbass. This is not our only focus, but, in my opinion, it is of great importance, because it envisages the construction of a spiritual bridge between Russia and Donbass,” Elena Romanenko said.

She also told about her having brought to Donetsk a large Desert Angel temple icon of John the Forerunner as a gift to the Iversky temple, and icons for the war-destroyed churches of the DPR.

“This is a different story which is a very poignant and sensible area for me. For example, the Bryansk artists had created the icon of the Lord Almighty, which we presented to the St. Ignatius Church in Donetsk. It is located at a 900-meter distance away from the airport and has been completely destroyed. But Father Alexander and the community have restored it,” Elena Romanenko said.

For her part, Elena Radomskaya spoke about the activities held by the headquarters for the front-line areas.

“For the five-year operation period, we have formed a team that is ready to work and capable of overcoming difficulties. We visit frontline areas where people are facing a very complicated situation, and we must help them. In addition to humanitarian aid, people in the frontline areas need basic communication,” Elena Radomskaya said.

Elena Romanenko emphasized that priests in the beaten territories are the people ща major importance who support faith, hope and strength in their congregations.

“On Dmitriev’s Saturday, Father Andrei recalled the main thing that the Battle of Kulikovo had helped the Orthodox believers realize that unity is power. Today, the same situation is taking place in the Donbass – the consolidation of the Russian lands through blood, through the Orthodox faith,” she emphasized.
