A delegation of German politicians and entrepreneurs visited the Legatus Youth Diplomacy Center of Donetsk and discussed with its students the geopolitical situation in Germany, as well as other topical issues, a correspondent from the DPR Official Website reports.
Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin and the International Commission on Human Rights, spoke about the purpose of his visit to the Republic.
“This is not the first time I have been to Donetsk, I have been visiting the city for two years now. Our main goal this time is to build business relations between Germany, Donetsk and Lugansk. These business relations are the first step in lifting the blockade imposed on Donbass. Besides, we have humanitarian projects. Today we have visited an orphanage to make donations. It is very important to support vulnerable segments of the population, such as children, because they are the future of any country. We help a school in Lugansk, bring books in German. We also cooperate with some schools and universities in Donetsk,” Gunnar Lindemann said.
He also noted that the school of diplomats is especially important for Donetsk, as diplomats maintain a fragile link between the countries. “Only through proper diplomacy we can achieve peace in the world,” Gunnar Lindemann highlighted.
Director of the Legatus Youth Diplomacy Center Karina Pavlyuchkova spoke about the outcome of the meeting.
“Today’s meeting was significant, since German representatives attended it. We have people studying English and German among the students of the Center, so this experience is important for them. They need it not only as people learning a foreign language, but also as future diplomats, newcomer politicians.
At the meeting they raised the issues of civil society, youth and world politics, diplomacy, discussed the global economy. All the issues were a matter of topical interest,” Karina Pavlyuchkova claimed.
