February 8th marks five years since the death of Vsevolod Petrovsky, poet and romanticist, historian and analyst, warrior and journalist.

After the proclamation of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Vsevolod Petrovsky worked in the Ministry of Information, he was an excellent expert of his job. He could not stay indifferent to what was happening in his Homeland, so he grabbed a camera and a voice recorder, and began his information struggle for the young Republic. When the battle for Donbass broke out, he took up arms and joined the militia, went to the front line.

On February 8th, 2015, they planned to assault Debaltsevo. When the Nazi troops were scheming another trap near Komissarovka, a reconnaissance unit advanced. Vsevolod Petrovsky served in this unit. Having fulfilled the task, the soldiers headed for their home station. At that moment they came under an artillery strike.

Vsevolod died, but his kind smile, purposefulness and strict intransigence to the enemy, who encroached on our Homeland, remain in our memory forever.
