5 years ago, in the capital of Belarus there was signed a momentous treaty entitled A Package of Measures to Implement the Minsk Agreements to Settle the Situation in Donbass. Commissioner for Human Rights in the Donetsk People’s Republic Daria Morozova made a statement on this occasion.
“This document was validated by the UN Security Council and became the basis for all further peace negotiations between the Republics and Ukraine.
Over time, the document known as the Minsk Agreements has enabled to save thousands of lives, bring home hundreds of people, and ensure peace, even though it is unstable and often violated by the Ukrainian party. We have finally begun to forget the horrors of full-scale hostilities. With each new meeting, with every difficult and lengthy negotiation session, we are gradually approaching the implementation of the provisions stipulated in the document.
The Minsk Agreements still serve as a single-option platform for resolving the current conflict. We will continue to follow and fulfill our obligations under the agreements reached. And I am deeply convinced that the day will come when shells will stop exploding over Donbass and our children will no longer hear the words “shelling”, “shelter” and “shells,” Daria Morozova said.
