The policy pursued by Ukraine’s incumbent President Zelensky toward Donbass is no different from Poroshenko’s policy, DPR People’s Council deputy Vladimir Medvedev stated.
“Thus, for example, Kurt Walker, the ex-US Special Representative to Ukraine, in an interview with the Ukrainska Pravda edition described Zelensky’s strategy as “cautious”, which makes it look like Kiev is interested in a peaceful resolution to the conflict. In fact, he calls the strategy of the new president of Ukraine and his team a clever disguise, which sets the same goals as those set under Poroshenko, but looks more attractive to Western countries’ representatives. It is unlikely that anyone could give Zelensky’s policy a more precise definition.
On the one hand, the new president of Ukraine demonstrates a willingness to establish peace, confirms his readiness to implement the Minsk Agreements, and signs the Steinmeier’s Formula implementation at the Normandy Format meeting. On the other hand, Zelensky and his team declare that the Minsk Agreements need to be reviewed, that the law on the special status of Donbass is not necessary, and in general there is an alternative scenario – to wall off from the DPR and the LPR. Such Zelensky’s hypocrisy and cynicism are in high favour with his overseas handlers. The double standards policy is the US trademark. Kiev will continue to sabotage the Minsk Agreements behind the decency mask, and the AFU will again fire at Donbass civilians,” Medvedev said.
