On the eve of International Women’s Day, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin met with women-defenders of the Fatherland, who took part in the battles of the Great Patriotic War at Stalingrad and Berlin, who survived the siege of Leningrad and performed labor feats in the rear. The oldest participant in the meeting turns one hundred this year. The conversation was in an informal setting, a correspondent of the DPR Official Website reports today, on March 3.

“I considered it a good occasion to see you on the eve of International Women’s Day, March 8. You are defenders of our Homeland and deserve congratulations like nobody else. Your path was hard and challenging. You liberated Donbass, Kharkov and Nikolayev, survived the blockade of Leningrad. We bow down before you for a really outstanding example to future generations. My kind request to you is to tell your grandchildren, great-grandchildren and just young people about those days and those events as much as possible. Because that must not be forgotten, but serve as an incentive for future generations, as it was for us in 2014. Congratulations on this coming March 8th!” Denis Pushilin welcomed the veterans.

When communicating with the DPR Head, the participants in the meeting told about the combat operations they took part in, and what they do today. During the conversation with the Head of State, they especially focused on the patriotic education of the younger generation.

“How can one deny the victory of our men, our Soviet people, in the Great Patriotic War? It’s such a shame when people do not understand, do not know, but try and fake up the history,” emphasized Anna Akhtyamova, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.

At the end of the meeting, the DPR Head congratulated the women on the upcoming holiday once again, and gave each of them flowers and presents.
