Four Star of the DPR Hero memorial signs have been unveiled in Shakhtyorsk today, on March 4, the press office of the Young Republic Public Organization reports.

The Young Republic Public Organization, with the assistance of representatives of the Naslediye [Heritage] All-Russian Public Youth Patriotic Organization, perpetuated the memory of four heroes of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Elena Orlenko — Private of the 08807 Military Unit — rose up to defend of the Donetsk People’s Republic and perished on 29 March 2015.

Sergei Gokun, who served in the same 08807 Military Unit, died defending the frontier of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. It was from the Uglegorsk vicinities that he made the last phone call to his mother. Sergei left a wife and two children.

Nikolai Dyachenko — a soldier of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic, who served in the 08807 Military Unit. On 22 May 2018, Nikolai died of multiple wounds to the head and chest after the vehicle that he was driving hit a mine. Nikolai left 4 children.

Private Dmitry Karpenko. Since April 2014, he joined the ranks of the Berkut special forces unit. On 25 August 25 2014, Karpenko perished near the Saur-Mogila memorial. Dmitry left a wife and a daughter.

The event was attended by Head of the Young Republic Public Organization and DPR People’s Council deputy Kirill Makarov and Deputy Head of the Shakhtyorsk Town Council Yuri Kasitsky, as well as a guest from the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Kaluga Regional Branch of the Naslediye [Heritage] All-Russian Public Patriotic Organization Segei Gusyev.

“Today we are opening the Stars of the DPR Heroes to the persons who will forever be remembered as an example of courage, bravery, honour and valour. The names of those, who gave their lives for us to live in the peace today, will remain in our hearts forever,” Sergei Gusev said.

Kirill Makarov, in turn, noted that it is third time that the Young Republic is installing commemorative signs in the village of Sadovoye.

“Today we are opening a whole alley of stars for the first time. Let it be the first and the last one. I would like to express gratitude to the families of the deceased for the feat that your loved ones performed. It is important for us that the younger generation look up to the heroes of Donbass,” the Head of the Public Organization said.

Residents and guests of the city observed a minute of silence as a tribute to the memory of the soldiers and laid flowers at the memorial signs.
