Today, on March 25, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin took part in the 2nd Republic Congress of Coordinators of the Immortal Regiment International Patriotic Event. According to a correspondent of the DPR Official Website, during the meeting they announced the concept of conducting this event in 2020 and also brought forward a series of new substantial proposals. Note that representatives of various towns and cities of the country also took part in the congress in online conference mode.
“Dear colleagues, the Donetsk People’s Republic is preparing for festive events dedicated to the Year of the Great Victory.
Immortal Regiment, as an international patriotic event, has already been a kind of tradition. And this year, of course, should not be an exception. Moreover, we are going to celebrate 75 years of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. And taking into account the external circumstances that affect and change all aspects of our life we should continue to prepare, think over all spare options, what we will do in case of various situations which, alas, might occur on the eve and during all the festive events, particularly on May 9.
Of course, it is the organizers who should work out all the spare options. We need to understand how important the Immortal Regiment is for all our citizens. We have seen every year how the number of participants increases. Accordingly, the responsibility of the organizers also grows, because it is necessary to ensure safety and all the co-occurring moments, so that the event can be held successfully and without excesses. The preparatory activities play the most important role,” Denis Pushilin said.
The Immortal Regiment event has been held in the DPR annually since 2015. According to the organizers, residents of 19 towns and cities take part in the event in our Republic, their number is about 150 thousand people. This year it is planned that the march will have three columns with portraits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the Afghan war of 1979-1989 and the war in Donbass, thus emphasizing the continuity of generations in defending the Homeland. A total of 1,830 volunteers will be involved in the event.
