The meeting of the Contact Group’s humanitarian subgroup on the settlement of the situation in Donbass has ended. DPR Commissioner for Human Rights Darya Morozova commented on the outcome of the talks.

“The parties discussed the results of the exchange conducted on December 29, 2019, and raised the issue of the procedural status of persons released. Unfortunately, since the exchange, prosecution has been revoked in relation to only one person out of the forty-six who were not legally cleared.

The roadmaps the parties proposed on the mechanism of searching for missing persons have also been considered. We exchanged our viewpoints on how the process should proceed and also discussed its legal status. As a result, it has been agreed that joint proposals on the implementation of the mechanism will have been ready by the next talks.

In addition, the parties shared information on the persons being detained. However, the Ukrainian party have not provided any evidence that the above persons are staying in their territory. I hope that in the near future Ukraine will carry out all the necessary procedures as soon as possible to continue working on this issue,” Morozova noted.
