Upon instructions by the Deputy Chairman of the Republic’s Government, construction workers have begun rehabilitation of residential buildings at Stratonavtov Street in Donetsk, DPR Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Services of the DPR Sergei Naumets reported on Friday of March 20.

“The residential buildings at 123, 139 and 141 Stratonavtov Street were included in the restoration programme back in 2017-2018. Back then, the contractor firm restored the thermal circuit of the buildings. To date, the ministry’s specialists have considered the issue of completing rehabilitation works, the houses have been included in the Republican Sectoral Programme for the current year.

There is a lot of work to do, operational and well-coordinated decisions and assistance at the interdepartmental level will be required: it is necessary to lay new inlet and in-housing networks for water supply, drainage, gas and electricity supply, instead of those destroyed due to hostilities. Repairs will be carried out in the apartments, the inhabitants of which have expressed a will to return. To date, restoration of a five-story three-entrance house is under way, construction workers will proceed to repairing the other two-story houses at a later stage. All works are expected to be completed by the autumn of 2020,” Sergey Naumets said.

According to him, the works are being carried out by the Stroyresurs state-owned enterprise, subordinate to the DPR Ministry of Construction. Today, about 16 workers are working on site, they were mainly recruited from among residents of the Kievsky district of Donetsk, living within walking distance of the building under restoration.
