The representative of Ukraine to the political group claims that it is allegedly impossible to reach and document the agreements in writing within the Contact Group due to the fact that its meeting will be held in a videoconference mode. His statement does not stand up to any criticism. In fact, Mr. Reznikov confirmed once again that Kiev has absolutely no interest in the peaceful settlement, it is much more important and obviously more profitable for the Ukrainian side to look for a thousand and one reasons to evade its obligations under the Minsk Agreements instead of focusing on finding ways to reestablish peace in Donbas.
In addition, it is worth remembering that it was because of Alexei Reznikov and his unfavorable health condition that yesterday’s online meeting of the political group did not take place. At the same time, Mr. Reznikov proved to be quite capable of communicating with journalists and filling the media with destructive statements.
Once again, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that in settling any, even the most acute and complicated conflicts, the most important thing is that both parties have the will and conscientious striving to resolve the contradictions. There are many different examples from the world practice of how and in what format agreements can be adopted and consolidated even if the parties cannot meet in person, especially in times of extensive digitalization of diplomacy. Therefore, we call on Kiev not to take the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the world as yet another excuse for not fulfilling its obligations and to start finally implementing the agreements reached in Minsk.
